Which Due Date Would You Go By?

FF says my due date is 1/18/10 based on the fact that it shows I ovulated on day 24.  I told my doctor about this today & she asked how long most of my periods were and I said, it depended (I was only off BCP a few months) anywhere from 29-35 days.  She then said it "didn't make sense that I would ovulate on day 24 and get my period so soon because most people get their period 14 days after ovulation".  Everything I have read says it depends and many people get their period 10 days after.  This was what happened to me- my LP wasn't really long and I would get AF 10 days after FF showed I ovulated.  So, she puts my  EDD at 1/9/10.... I won't have an ultrasound until 18-20 weeks.

I know that is only a week and a half different but as far as telling other people, reading, ticker, etc. what would you go with FF's EDD or the one the doctor is going by?

Re: Which Due Date Would You Go By?

  • Ticker just for you. I would just give a range for dates when people ask. I say betwen 1/10 and 1/15 for me because of what I think and what the doctor thinks. Good luck!

  • If you are sure that is the day you ovulated, I'd go with that.

I had my first u/s this morning and it matches exactly based on O date but would've been a week off if we were going by LMP

  • I would go by the date you think is correct. The Dr. thinks I'm due 3/1/10, but I don't have a 28 day cycle so I'm really due 3/4/10.?
  • I'd tell people I was due in mid-January.

That is what I have said so far to the people we have told.

  • Go by your date.

  • I would announce the later date.  When it comes time, it will be less stressful to go early than late
  • I'm telling people based on my O date. As of today, my LMP date would put me at 8w2d, my O date puts me at 7w3d and the u/s today puts me at 7w5d. I'd rather be measuring ahead than behind! If I hadn't been charting, and was measuring 4 days behind my EDD, I'd start to freak about the baby being small and something being wrong.

  • Use your date. In all likelihood, once they finally do an ultrasound, the doc's date will match yours a lot closer.

Since there's some confusion, maybe you could request a dating ultrasound?
