Calgon?

I finally got some Calgon (my sister found it at a local grocery store) but am unsure how to use it to strip/de-stink my dipes.  It's the powdered kind.  I ran a cold rinse/warm wash with detergent earlier (before I picked up the Calgon from my sis), and just started another hot wash with 1/2c Calgon (per the box directions).  Should I add it to the rinse cycles too?  Should I add anything else (Dawn, vinegar)?
