I have heard that if your mom did not have stretch marks you are less likely too? Any truth in that? If they are going to come when should I expect them? I have been putting my mama bee belly butter on twice a day in hopes for the best.
Scared of labor? Understandable. Scared of being a parent? I get that. Scared of flucking stretch marks? *gives you the side eye* You have more important things to worry about, trust me.
Meh... I'll probably get them. I got them when my boobs and hips came in during puberty, and I survived; they've faded to the color of my skin now. I'm keeping moisturized, but if they're coming, and there's not much I can do about it. They'll just be one more little piece of guilt I can hold over LO's head in the future...

I have had them on my hips and bb's since I hit high school I would just rather not have them on my stomach if I can avoid it.
If that is the case, then I hate to tell you, you can't avoid it. If you get them anywhere prior to pregnancy, you're going to get them on your belly too.
I got them during puberty BUT did not get them during pregnancy. I think the big difference was my diet. I ate like a pig in junior high and drank tons of soda. As an adult I eat much better and rarely drink soda. Oh and I drank tons and tons of water during pregnancy but I don't know if that made a difference or not. It is supposed to increase the elasticity in your skin. I guess we will see how things go this time around. I feel huge already so I figure that I will probably get a few this time around.

They aren't that big of a deal. You'll have other things to worry about. They eventually fade. No amount of cream, lotion, butter, anything can stop them.
oh well I guess they fade and I'm sure there is some sort of plastic surgery magic to help too. BTW I didn't mean to offend any of you it was just a simple question. I wanted some help with. I am sorry to anyone who I did offend.
If you didn't get them in puberty and your mom didn't get them (they have a large genetic component) then you are very likely to not get them.
My mom didn't get them and neither have I, and I'm not really doing anything in terms of prevention. If you're going to get them, you're going to get them. Don't think about it.
LOL, I have heard that they are a "run in the family" type thing. Sorry I forgot the actual word right now. I don't have any yet, but my mom and grandma both got them, and I've had them on my thighs for years alreayd. So I won't be surprised if I do get them. I also lather up with mama bees!
I have had them since I was 14. Sorry you find them so utterly disgusting.
I read the OP twice but couldn't find where she said utterly disgusted anywhere in it.
I have no idea if you will get them or not. I got some little faint ones on my stomach only after I gave birth and only on half my stomach. I don't have any on my left half of my stomach. They are very faint. I have some awful ones on my hips at my waist line and I promise you they are not a badge of honor. Nor are they cute little mommy tattoos. I wish I had that happy outlook that some other women do. It's a great attitude to have.
Re: I'm scared of stretch marks!
this. Just think of them as baby tattoos

Whats so scary?? They don't bite, promise.
P.S- no amount of lotion will prevent them either, just ask your Dr.

I've had them since puberty so I'm just watching new ones appear every day....never been one for bikinis anyway
Oh, and this too.
it's not looking good!

My mom did not get any stretch marks for me, but she did for my brother, who was almost 3 pounds bigger.
I don't have any... yet *knock on wood*
And I have old ones from when my boobs grew- stretch marks aren't really anything, they fade.
I really relied on this fact but it was NOT true for me. I was bummed. But... it's not scary. LOL. You're in trouble if you think that's scary!

Wow, she must have hit a nerve. I don't see where she said they were disgusting, she just had a legitimate question.
