Just curious to see what others plan on doing. Our plan is to nurse until DD is 1-1 1/2 but if we are both showing signs of stopping sooner we will.
TIA
6 months is my first goal, then 9 months, then 12 months, then we'll take it month by month from there. FYI pigtails on 0-6 recently posted that bf at 14 months is "disgusting"

I am planning on going until a year, if not a little longer. Honestly, I am sort of "over it". Today I dropped the second nursing session (after her first nap) and she didn't seem to care at all. I am going to try to drop one a week or so, until she is one. I will intro a little bit of whole milk in that time as well. I think the one that will stick around a while is the before bed session.

Funny, I was unsure if I would even do it and here we are 11 months later still going strong. I pump at work 2-3 times a day and feed her other times. Not sure when (or how for taht matter) to stop.
I just started supplementing with formula about 3 weeks ago and it has been so nice to just give her a bottle during the day and she does great with the formula.
We still BF at bedtime and in the morning, but I quit pumping at work. I will try to continue this till a year and maybe a little longer.
I set mini goals- 3 months, 6 months, 9 months....Had wanted to make it to a year but I had surgery at 10 months, which required me to stop. He did great with formula and now we will be starting milk soon. I feel really proud to have made it 10 months. I am definitely nursing my next baby.
12 months, then I need to wean before she moves to the 1 year old room at daycare and I can't come in throughout the day to nurse her without being a distraction.
At 12 months I'll offer cow's milk when he is at daycare, but plan on keeping the morning and evening sessions for as long as he will go. I think about dropping the day sessions and it makes me sad. He doesn't seem like he is ready to give it up any time soon either. When he is home with DH during the day, the minute I walk in from work he will whimper until he gets to nurse. Which is fine by me, it's our bonding time after being apart all day.

2 years. I want to start ttc at that point. I am hoping we are down to one nursing session a day. Due to complications in my pregnancy with DS my doctor and I have decided that DS can nurse at most once per day. Nursing till about 2 was a tough choice as I really want to be having another child when DS is 2, but I felt I should continue nursing DS.

We're at about twice a day now...I'm a little devastated, to be honest, when at first I wasn't even that jazzed about it! I was all ready to quit this week when a friend of mine mentioned upping my supply while I'm off for the summer and now I'm rethinking my decision. My supply is crap, though
I planned to nurse as long as she wanted with a year being the minimum. Then, she stopped nursing at 3.5 months, so I'm EPing. I'm hoping to make it to a year, but my supply is tanking. At the least, she'll have frozen milk until she's almost 10 months.
I really don't know. Maybe till 2? I really enjoy doing it. If DD wanted to stop before than then I would but it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon! Which is ok.
I made it to 3.5 months EBF, then went down to the before bed session only for another month.
2 horrid bouts of mastitis within a month were it for me! Plus DS has a milk allergy and I couldn't keep up the diet for a year! Ugh. He does better on the soy than he did with the BM anyways...
My goal is 12 months and it couldn't arrive any sooner! I'm tired of pumping at work and I'm tired of not being able to exercise/diet; not that I'm a fiend at either, but I'm still 15 lbs above pre-BFP and I'd love to lose that sometime in the next century or so. I guess you could say this is one of the first times I'm really frustrated with BF'ing. Only 4 more months, only 4 more months...
My original goal was 12 months. I think, before that point, we'll be down to nursing in the morning and at bedtime with formula during the day. I'm getting very tired and she is literally beating the hell out of me and my clothing in the process.
I will continue to nurse her for now and once my freezer stash is gone for sending her to daycare I will start sending her with formula. After that happens we'll probably start doing some formula during the day at home, too.
ETA: I'm BFing after a breast reduction so I'm very happy to have made it this far, as many women can't nurse after a reduction at all. I feel guilty sometimes for thinking about supplementing instead of EBFing the whole 12 months, but that feeling is waning.

My initial goal was 3 months. I made it to 4. I had to EP the last two months after DD refused to latch. My work situation changed which made pumping nearly impossible, so I quit. I regret it only a little bit mainly for the health benefits of the BM. The day I officially turned off that pump was one of the happiest days of my life.
I don't want to pump at all with #2. Straight from the tap - I hope, I pray.
I don't really have a goal in mind. I still enjoy it and I'll do it for a few months more if not longer. It's definitely more difficult now that I'm back at work but I hope that won't affect my supply too much.
During the first 2.5 months or so my goal was one more day every day. hen it became 6-12 months. Now it's at least 12-18 months. At least 12 months but I will stop when either of us loses interest.

I understand the dieting, but why can't you exercise while BFing? I do...
I love the closeness of it. I planned to go 18 mo., but he may be on track to self wean before that time. He loves his table food! At night he still wants the comfort of the boob, but he mostly leaves his paci in and uses my breast as a pillow.

I nursed for 7 months. I had just started back at school from a leave of absence and it got too stressful trying to keep up with it so we went to formula. I miss it sometimes, but it is nice being able to have other people give him a bottle if I have to do something else.
The last time I nursed DS was on his first birthday. It was bittersweet! I will always remember it. He did GREAT with weaning and so did I. I was ready for it when he was around 10 months, but I told myself I would nurse to a year and that is what I did! I was so tired and drained and couldn't do it much longer. Not sure if it was pregnancy related or not. I'm glad I nursed for as long as I did! Now I'm on my 5 month break and then back at it!
Before DD was born, the goal was 6 months. Then I started and it became a day by day struggle for the first few months, so the goals became 3 m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 9m, and 12m. Then my supply started dwindling around 9 m, so then it reverted back to a goal of 10m, which is this Sunday. I might push for 11m, but my freezer stash is pretty much non-existent, so we'll see.

I will be really sad at the same time though
I weaned DD at 12 months

I made it 4.5 months until a bout of mastitis tanked my left side completely... we're talking one pornstar boob, one shriveled up raisin boob... HAWT.
I sustained DS with fenugreek but eventually lost my supply due to supplementing because he wasn't filling up completely.
I was okay with that!
