Disturbing Pic in Ina May's book

Has anyone else read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth? If so did the pic of the baby coming out face first instead of top-of-the-head first totally disturb you? It just looks so freakin weird to me! I feel sorry for that poor baby's neck because you know that can't be comfortable and then his poor little lips were so swollen!!! Yikes!

childbirth is never pretty, but that does sound creepy! thankfully they're really "bendable" so i doubt it hurt the baby. the mom might be a different story though...?

Yes (just borrowed it from the library for the 2nd time) and no, it didn't disturb me. Having seen & helped at my friends' deliveries, I know childbirth isn't always pretty.

Face presentation happens sometimes, the worse part of it is that occasionally the baby looks like he got beat up for a few days with the bruising

Don't get me wrong, I've seen baby's be born before. That's fine. It's the the picture of the babys face perfectly oulined by the mom's opening and it's all swollen and funny looking...I don't know...just looks odd to me
