Yeah, just about. It might be an age thing too. I volunteer for big brother/big sisters and my little sister is 13. I'm constantly amazed and how one-track-minded she is. It's just hard for kids at that age to see the bigger picture.
Yea. As I am watching it, I am trying to put myself in her position, and imagine myself at 16 having a baby. I know I wouldn't be nearly as prepared/focused as I am now, but she didn't even seem that in to the baby when it was born? I know I'm watching tiny little clips of her whole experience, so I suppose I shouldn't be so judging.

Yikes! I didn't see the first part of the show, so I'm gonna feel really bad if that was the case, how sad! The part I saw she didn't have a boyfriend.

Yeah, I've watched 3 episodes. They all seem pretty shallow.
Not sure if it's the girls they're picking, or if that's just the mindset of most 16 year olds, like rcollier said, not able to see the big picture! It was awkward to watch. Her mom wasn't my favorite person either.

Ugh...I hate those shows, yet I'm addicted. My other complaint about that show is what is up with all the animated notebook sketching, it's really over-done and horrible! One girl kept being drawn with a pig nose...lol
Well, you have to consider the type of people who will volunteer for that program, and the type of people the program execs want to feature. Responsible, mature teen moms are pretty unglamorous.
I have worked with more than a few teen moms, and just like us, they run the gamut in terms of maturity and decision-making skills.
It just amazes me that so many teens aren't more worried about AIDs.
is everyone talking about the cheerleader with the football player BF that was PG with triplets and lost 2 of them or did I miss one of these shows?
That was a documentary dateline did on teenage pregnancy .
That makes sense now... Thanks. DH recorded that one on DVR and played it for me but I never knew what it was. he told me it was 16 & pregnant but I was starting to wonder. I'm going to have to set it to record 16 & pregnant now.

I thought the same thing!!! Its like they copied Juno...it almost makes me think that they think its cool or okay to be pregnant and 16.....

I can't say I really understand what MTV is trying to accomplish with this show either. The girl I saw featured had a somewhat "easier" situation than a lot of young moms do. Her parents (although her mom was a bit of a beast) were supporting her and the baby. I don't think this is a very realistic portrayal of the majority of young moms. I think the show could seem very encouraging to girls who may be considering getting pregnant, or who don't see the big deal. The show made it seem like her toughest issues were her not being able to date and go out with friends anymore.

It is a sad show. I wouldn't say these girls are shallow though, they're immature...weren't we all at 16 and 17? Teenagers are not meant to be parents.
You said it...they are all pretty shallow and clueless....this is simply another sad reality of what our world has come to. You have got to see the episode that spotlights the guy that goes out to purchase a 500.00 PS3....very sad.
True but that may still scare some teens not being able to go out anymore is like being sentenced to jail for some young girls. I do think many of the girls they chose if not all (i have only seen 3) are very self centered and its strange to watch...
Yeah, the girls are shallow, but hello!?!?! Haven't they heard of birth control? I wasn't having sex at 16, but I knew that if I did I would have to use birth control, or else a freakin baby would happen!! Did these kids not get taught that sex with no birth control can equal baby??
