I pump three times at work (9am, 12pm, 3pm) and I usually get 4-5 ounces between both sides.
At my 9am pump this morning, my right boob (usually the good one at 2-3 ounces) wouldn't give up the goods. I kept waiting for a let-down and nothing. I massaged until my hand went numb, and nothing. Maybe half an ounce.
I pumped at 12pm, and righty was back in the game - about 4 ounces. When I pulled my pump off, I could see red swirls in the milk remnants on the flange. I put the flange back on and removed it mid-pump and could see that the blood was coming from one little duct.
Could this have been a clogged duct that worked itself out?
Should I worry? Call the doctor?
Has anyone had this happen? How long did it bleed for?
Re: Blood while pumping... clogged duct?
It may have been a milk blister that popped....I've had those before and they just bled that one feeding/pumping.
Have you pumped again? Was it still bleeding?
I just did my 3pm pumping... still bled a little, but I don't think as much (I couldn't "catch it in the act" like I had the first time).
I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it. Yuck.
