Larry and I have always managed to fit all of our stuff into one big duffel bag... Easy as pie.
So, we were thinking about our first big trip (up to my parents house), and I thought that the ginormous rolling suitcase will be enough for all three of us.
Yeah, right. The ginormous rolling suitcase held Paige's things, not including her play pen and stroller. Larry and I were still resigned to the big duffel bag.
They are geysers of yuck that can't move on their own. the stroller is the worst part! since we'll be bringing the snap-n-go that thing will take up a good portion of MILs trunk. I don't want to over pack - it's such a crap shoot!

The worst thing for us was the boppy (for nursing).
For one, I went out and bought an extra boppy for travel. I hate spending money, but a boppy is one of those things that should always smell like home, you know? And my parents' house is a farmhouse and all that implies. It doesn't smell bad, per se, but it smells different than our yankee-candled, dinner-cooking, cookies-baking city house. So, I had to get a "travel" boppy. :::eye roll:::
And, it had to be in luggage because I didn't want it hanging out in the trunk collecting god-knows-what dirt.
Yeah, that thing literally took up half of our ginormous rolling suitcase on it's own.
It's staying home from now on. Period. We'll just have to make-do with whatever's around. :-)
I was terrified of forgetting something crucial. And, since we were flying, it was hard to figure out what to carry on vs. check. I didn't want to take too much since we had to lug it, plus him, plus his carseat (no way was I going to risk checking that, so we gate checked it) through the airport, but I also wanted to have everything we'd need.
And it's worse now that she's on solids; I fly with a freezer bag and ice packs with all her food too.
Ugh, that reminds me of traveling with insulin. Yuck. And I never had to fly with it - just drive long distances (and make sure that hotel rooms had refrigerators for me!). I can't imagine having to fly and keep things cold.
Re: i hate packing even more now!

Seriously, how can they need so much stuff?

It's the reason we only fly Southwest. I still get to check two bags, even if she doesn't have her own ticket.
