How long could your 2-3yo stay away from home?

DD went to grandma and grandpa's on Sunday and I think if it were up to her, she would stay forever. I'm ready for her to come home and last night when I went to talk to her on the phone, she wouldn't even talk to me and I was so sad. She is coming back on Wednesday.

She does have her cousin that is the same age over there to play with so I understand that but, 4 days?

  • She will stay all day long...but will not sleep anywhere.

  • dd has only stayed a night at a time somewhere.. but she is always ready to come home after that..
  • DD did 5 days when she was almost 3.  It was fine until the 4th day when she saw my photograph and cried, "Mommy lost me."
  • DD went to Florida with my parents for a week in April (mom goes for the winter and she flew down w/ my dad for a week).  When my mom brought them to the airport to go home after the week was over DD said, I don't want to go home, I want to go to a restaurant.  She is way too busy when she is with my parents to say more then 2 words to me on the phone as well.  I am always ready for her to come home long before she is ready.
  • She doesn't stay away from home yet. I don't have anyone responsible enough for her to stay with...
  • I'm not sure.  When we went on our honeymoon, DS spent the first weekend with my parents.  That Sunday, my IL's picked him up and at that time we lived in an upstairs apartment in their home.  They stayed with DS the whole week, but he was in his house.

I don't think DS has been out of the house with out us for more than 2-3 days.

  • DD could stay at mom's forever and not care to come home. They don't tell her no. She usually likes to come home right away from my MIL's

  • As long as I would let her.  When she goes to her grandparents house, I usually have to chase her down to get her to come home.  The last time she yelled "no, I want to stay here with grammy!"  She would live there if we let her and why wouldn't she want to?  She gets to drink juice boxes all the time, go to McDonalds and watch as many movies as she wants with gramma in her bed.
