Tell me it's not too hard!!

I have two pairs of adorable wool shorties that I ordered from ThreeHappyTrees on etsy.  But...I'm scared to wash/lanolize them, so I havne't used them yet!!  Will someone please walk me thru the washing and lanolizing...and tell me it's not too hard!  I've been tempted to have DS wear these over disposables b/c they're so cute and I'm so scared...dumb I know!  So, how do I do it?  What temp water?  I can use regular baby wash instead of wool wash, right?  How much lanolin?  Help!!!

    It's not hard at all!  Once you do it one time, you'll think "What was I worried about?"

    Here's a quick run-down:

    Take a pea-sized dollop of lanolin and put it in a small cup of VERY hot water.  It should melt so that it looks like oil and water mixed.  In a clean sink, fill it w/ warm water.  You can add a little bit of baby wash.  Now add the lanolin/water to the sink and swish the water really really good.  Gently lay your woolies in the water and press down so they're all covered w/ the water.  Let sit for about 15-30 minutes.  Drain the water and gently press some of the water out of the wool.  Do NOT wring, stretch or pull them in anyway, or they'll stay that shape.  Take two towels (folded once) and place the woolies between the two.  Then roll them up.  This will gently squeeze any excess water from them.  Lay flat to dry.

    Ta-Da!!  Easy-peasy!

    And BTW....I am THT...so glad you like your woolies!!!!

    It's not hard - I was in the EXACT same situation as you. Adorable shorties from THT and I waited too long to finally lanolize them. Because of that, I've only gotten 2 wears out of them and they're now too small for DD so I need to sell.

    Anyway, I'll let others more experienced help you out, but it's not hard.

    Super easy - easier than diaper laundry, which is uber simple...

    I put a little lanolin (about 1/4 inch of the lansinoh stuff for your nipples) in a glass jar w/ some water and a bit of baby wash, nuke it until it's melted, put it in a sink with cool/room temp water, swish around (if there's not much baby wash in the lanolin mixture, I put a drop or two in the sink as well - not a lot at all).  Take the soaker(s) and put them in the sink - push them down to get the water bubbles out.  no need to agitate them at all - just let them sit.  You can put them inside out to get the most lanolization (if that's a word) on the inside where it's most needed.  Let them sit for 20 minutes or so (longer is fine) and then take out, gently squeeze out extra water.  Take a towel, lie the soaker flat on the towel, and then roll up the towel with the soaker in it to get out excess water.  Then just have it air dry - lying flat.

    Ok, I'm off to go lanolize.  Yippee!  Let's just hope DS stays asleep long enough for me to get them in the sink and soaking!!
