I took an at home test on Sat which came up positive but yesterday I went to a clinic and they did a urine test which cam up negative. I don't know which to go by since they were both urine test either one could be wrong. I made an app. with an OBGYN but it is not till the 13th of Aug. Should I ask for a blood test sooner than that? Confused.
Re: Urine test vs. blood test
At home tests are generally very sensitive, and the doc's tests can actually be less so. However, I'd expect that two days later your hormones would have increased to the point where a doc's test would show a positive.
Have you taken any more at-home tests? What do they show?
I would request a blood test if that is the case. If your HPT is saying positive... than more than likely - you are pregnant. Try taking another HPT first to be sure. If it comes up positive again - the clinic's urine test had to have been defective.
Good Luck!
Was the clinic/doc test taken with dilute urine? Not only are they frequently less sensitive than early home tests, but the amount of hcg this early in pregnancy (you aren't even 4 weeks yet) is so low that if your urine isn't concentrated enough, you'll get a negative.
A blood test will likely put your mind at ease, and the worst they can do is say no.
