My DS is taking 5oz in a bottle 3-4 times while at daycare (7a-5p). At some point will I need to add more ozs or does my milk adjust? He is content after eating and I guess he would let us know if he's still hungry, but i'm just wondering if the oz's will increase and if I'll have to pump more for him throughout the day?
TIA
Re: increasing ozs?
DD took about 18 oz/day when I first went back to work (3 months), she maxed at 25 oz/day for most of months 4.5 to 8, more recently as she has had more solids she is down to 15-20 oz/day
Essentially, he will likely increase a small amount and will then decrease when he eats a good amount of solids. I always send a little extra and I keep a single frozen bag at daycare.
My son is about the same age and also takes 5+ oz about every 2-3 hours. I was suprised as it seems like a lot (I top off the Avent 4oz, so it has to be between 5 and 6 oz). Lately I am hardly pumping enough, so I hope this is a growth spurt and that he will come back down to 4.5 oz which he seemed happy with until a week ago.
When I work at home 2 days/week, I nurse to make sure I get sufficient stimulation to "supply according to demand", but the 3 other days are a bit stressing as I struggle to fit in 3 pump sessions daily at work!!
How long was your 3mo growth spurt and what quantity did your lo go down to after that??
