Fish oil bad?

I had my first appointment this morning. The nurse suggested i get some extra Omega 3 fatty acids and Vitamin D. I went to Walgreens and the pharmacist, who was also pregnant, said pergnant women should never have fish oil...Have you heard this before? I got DHA instead for now, but just wondered if you had ny idea about this. I'm kind of relieved to be avoiding Fish oil..the thought of it makes me want to puke....

Re: Fish oil bad?

  • My Dr told me to skip the fish oil while pregnant and nursing.  I used to take it because it does amazing things for my skin, I hardly even have to use lotion when I take one pill a day. It's no different than takign a Dayquil pill, it's the same size, it's not like you taste the fish oil!

  • I found a pill at Fred Meyers.  It was DHA and Omega's but without the fish in it specifically for preggos.  Also, our birthing instructor said you can always use Flax Seed.. but it is better to have it ground up.  My husband and I found it ground up at Winco for so cheap.  You can put it in your yogurt, or on salad... anything really.  The peanut butter we get from Trader Joes even has it in it.  It is really good...
