Our big ultrasound isn't for another two weeks, so while I've been looking at bedding I wasn't planning on making any decisions. This weekend though, I found one of PB kid's organic lines 50% off, since they are discontinuing it. The store happened to just have all the pieces left, so I bought one to bring home and the rest is on hold unitl tomorrow.
I definitely love it and it looks great with our robin egg blue walls, but am concerned about using it for a girl. What do you think?
I had envisioned doing white or ivory with subtle pinks with the blue walls if it is a girl. This is gender neutral, I'm just not sure if its too boyish or not. I do have 30 days to return it, so I'll probably at least get it and see what we're having.
In the meantime, any sites for where to look at bedding would be great. I made the mistake of falling in love with the Serena and Lily bedding, but think it is silly to spend so much $. I've searched literally every site that I know of and can't find anything I like if we have a girl that will go with these walls!
Re: What do you think of this bedding?
I just saw that at the outlet recently. It's very cute! I think it's gender neutral. Not necessarily boyish but not girly either. We have a very light blue guest room and if we had a girl I wanted to use a tone similar to that with pink accents. I think it's a great color scheme.
I had such a difficult time choosing baby bedding (I looked forever, ordered tons of fabric samples, etc) and while I love what I chose, we don't use the bumpers and that was my favorite pattern on the bedding (the argyle). Sometimes I wish I would have stuck with my first thought of just buying a crib skirt and sheets. I also loved bedding by Serena and Lily but couldn't justify $60 for 1 crib sheet!
Have you seen https://www.babybedding.com/
I ordered samples from there and really liked the patterns that they had. I also liked that you could order individual pieces.
Good luck!

You might want to try converting your bumper into a crib guard like this. I just bought fabric to make one because DS is chewing the crap out of the rail. We did just go with the crib sheet and I made a crib skirt and now that I'm making this chew guard thing I'm wishing that I had a matching bumper to scrap for fabric and padding.
I like it and think it is very neutral and would look nice. I had a hard time finding bedding and really did not want to spend a lot of money.
Some girls over on the 2nd tri board at the time had bought from this ebay seller and recommended her. I found a bedding I really liked and had no problems with my purchase. Her store name is beyond bedding but if you type in the search for "JOJO crib" a bunch of her items will come up. The only thing I was disappointed in was that I though she made the items but they are definitely bought from somewhere over in Asia. They aren't top of the line quality but I didn't think I needed that since all we really use are the curtains, diaper sack, hamper, and crib dust ruffle. The blanket, pillow and soon the bumper will not be used.
I think it's very cute and you can add your own pink accents if it's a girl. But I do agree with the others that you can get away with only ordering certain elements of it, like a fitted sheet, skirt, etc. Our bumper sits in a bag in the closet, never used except for photos before Adam arrived, and the quilt is over the back of the glider. And he decided that he hated regular sheets in the beginning, so we never even got to use our cute printed sheets because he "needs" the PBK chamois fuzzy sheets - diva...
Bottom line - the only parts of the set that are currently in use are the crib skirt and the quilt. And the only part that's used for its purpose is the crib skirt. We have plain sheets, a breathable bumper and a white padded crib rail guard. Very boring.
But using the bumper to make a rail guard is a brilliant idea! Once they can stand up, they start chewing the heck out of those expensive cribs!
Thanks for your input, you gave me some things to think about that will be useful as I search. I think I'll go ahead and get it and take the 30 days to figure out what I want to do. I knew I'd be picky, so I guess it dosen't hurt to have something I'd like.
And I do love the idea of using the bumper for the top rail when they're older. The bumpers are always so cute, but not used! Thanks for the idea!
I think the bedding itself is gender neutral...but honestly with blue walls I think it would make me think of a boy's room. Susanna's room is gender neutral (beige walls, light green and light brown with hints of yellow, light blue, and red in the safari animal theme) but sometimes I feel like I gave her a boy's room. The one thing that makes it more feminine is the little flowers on the yellow valances. Pink just didn't match well.
If it were me, I'd buy it and see how I felt after the big u/s since you do love it and you'll still be in the window to return!
