2nd Trimester

WTF 2nd tri lies!!!!! It's a bit like a vent but with less swearing!

So there i was merrily skipping into my 2nd trimester; with the words oh you won't feel so bad now, it's all up hill from here, and these are the easy months ringing in my ears.

So what happened to me today? A headache that has lasted for two days (so far), the worse case of morning sickness ever, followed by painful (i'm going to rip them off as they are sooo sensitive) nipples, with another bout of lunchtime sickness, a lovely amount of heartburn, with a constantly achy sciatic (sp) nerve that makes me walk all funky!

And these are supposed to be the easy months! Ha! I'm just waiting to get my first stretchmark and hemarroids to finish it all off today! Crying

  • I'm sorry! I didn't start feeling "better" this pregnancy until I was 17.5 weeks. But, I am still getting those terrible headaches. I hope you feel better soon :)

  • I hit that same spot but it helped to think there was light at the end of the tunnel somewhere.
I woke up one morning in week 16 and felt fine. Then, 2 days later, I landed myself in the hospital w/ the flu after puking for 36 hours straight. When that was over I was back to feeling fine again.

Now, "fine" for me right now is not feeling constantly awful. I still gag a lot and I threw up on my way to work this morning. Thankfully I still keep barf bags in the car. I still get heartburn but I am more myself overall.

    Good luck. Hang in there.

  • Lol as long as i can give them back at the end of the week, before mine set in!
  • FWIW, my "1st tri" symptoms didn't go away until 18 weeks.  I dont think our bodies are as aware of our calendar of expectations as we want them to be!  LOL!

Mine got worse before it got better as well. Right about the time  hit 14 weeks, too. Have you tried Zantac and Tums? for the acid/heartburn/indigestion?

I"m happy to say that after probably the worst 1-2 weeks, this weekend I" felt pretty normal. I"m crossing my fingers it stays that. but to make sure, I've been taking a generic Zantac a day since Friday. The Tums only helped with the heartburn.

The scaitica, I don't think will change  since that's more to do with the baby's position and how you carry yourself now, than the hormones.

Hopefully you will be feeling better shortly.

  • Yeah, and when you finally do feel "better" it's basically "tolerable".

  • Yea, I think we all believe that it will get better but I obviously it hasn't yet for you.  Just keep hoping that it will.  I get headaches too but that is just reserved for us pregnant women and I don't see that easing up at all.  I hope you feel better soon.Big Smile
  • I still have bouts of m/s (although it has gotten a little better) and I still have food and smell aversions galore. Generic Zofran has been my life saver...if you're having trouble keeping stuff down, etc. try that. Hope you feel better soon!
  • I'm having an awful day today too -- luckily it is summer vacation (yay for being a teacher) so I can rest and nap. I hope you start feeling better!
  • A big hug to all of you, thank you for your support and encouragement, it actually makes me feel better knowing that all of you have suffered as much coming into the 2nd tri.

I'll try all the suggestions to make me feel better, as we all know that tylanol is about as much good as a chocolate tea pot!

  • I fell for the hype as well! I started feeling better around week 17...hopefully you will too!

  • I felt no m/s until week 11... OMG it didn't stop until week 15. It will get better. I'm still waiting for more bouts of nausea, m/s, constipation (which is stiil there), exhaustion, etc. We're all on the same boat. Right Hug

  • Ohhhh, yeah, I'm totally still getting sick. Not as frequently as I was in 1st tri, but it's most certainly not good. And I'm tired of hearing people say, "Shouldn't that be gone by now?"

Also new in this trimester is acid reflux and gas pain. Awesome!

  • 2nd trimester is great after you get through the first couple weeks of it!  M/s stopped around 16 weeks and I was eating like normal by around 17-18 weeks.  I am only getting to pee once, sometimes twice, per night.  The heartburn is my only real complaint these days.  That and trying to shave my legs.

    EXACTLY!

  • I didn't feel better until 18 weeks. I had horrible headaches during 12-15 weeks! I hope yours gets better.
