Back to work Wednesday

I go back to work on Wednesday. While I really just want to stay home with Max, we need me to work. To add to the stress, I still don't know if I'll get to keep this job (which is part-time and not far from home, I definitely want to keep it). Logically I know Max will be fine, but it's so hard to leave him all day and I know I'll miss him so much! Tell me it will all be okay...

  • As long as you trust who you are leaving him with, it will be okay - for both of you!  It gets easier after a while and at least it's part-time.  It should make your transition a little easier.

Good luck.  I certainly know how hard it is.

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.

  • Hang in there. It will get easier.  I still call my DH every morning to see how the AM went. I have to leave just after they get up and some days it is harder than others.

Who do you having watching DS while your at work?

  • Thanks ladies. We have an assortment of friends and family who will watch Max for July and August...DH will be with him this Wednesday and Thursday, my mom will do a few weeks since she's off in the summer, then we have a friend doing a week, my dad and stepmom doing a week, MIL doing a week, and DH has a week off in August. Then in September (assuming I don't get laid off!) he'll be in day care two days a week and with my mom one day.

  • I just went back to work this last Thursday after a five month leave, and the first day was hard, but I did some stuff to prepare myself...

    1. Bought a cute new outfit to boost my confidence

    2. Packed everything we would need the night before

    3. Showered the night before

    4. Allowed myself to feel as bad as I wanted to the week leading up to it and allowed myself to cry as much as I wanted to. I also figured the first day would be horrendous, the first week would be terrible, and the first month would be hard. Anything up from that was a great day.

    5. Talk to as many people as I could to help keep my mind off of how much I missed my baby

    6. Saw her at lunch

    7. Got up a little earlier than I did before, so I could get everything I needed done while taking care of the baby

    8. Reduced my hours from 8 hours/day to 7 hours/day

    9. Went back to work on a Thursday, so I only had to survive two days before the weekend. My next week is only a four-day week because of the holiday, so I'm getting back into the swing of things gradually.

    10. Have access to photos at work (online or prints) to see my munchkin

    11. Stay as busy as possible at work

    12. Remembered the girl who posted on here last week who had to go back with a 5 week old. I was pretty luck to go back to work with an older baby.

I think the mental preparation is as important as the physical prep. I miss her during the day, but I really missed being around other adults, and I'm so excited to see her when I get home.
