Pumping moms

When you returned to work did you have problems with clogged milk ducts?  Today is the start of my second week back to work and I have a clogged milk duct that keeps showing up.

I pump every 2-3 hours at work and breastfeed my son on demand at night.  Any suggestions?

I did more with DD...make sure you are drinking enough water. I found if I wasn't drinking enough I was more prone to them.

I get one about every few months, and there is no pattern or warning.  The only way to power through it is to keep nursing, try to empty when I pump, and turn DS' head towards the source of the pain.  Ibuprofen helps too.  I often feel better the next day.

Maybe try repositioning the breastshield on that breast a bit........I wonder if you're just not getting good enough suction on that side.

That happened to me a few times, and that was my problem.

It happened to me a few times, too.  Compression and massage during pumping seem to have stopped it.
