Hand-me-down swim suits WWYD?

A co-worker of mine gave me a HUGE bag of maternity clothes from her sister-in-law a while ago. Most of them unfortunately do not fit me (WAY too big) however there are 3 swimsuits in there. They fit me pretty well. I really don't swim often- only a few times a year at my mom's house in the mountains (in a lake) so I was hoping to avoid buying maternity suits all together. One of them I can wear my old bottoms with the top, but I don't have anything to match the others. Would you wear them after a good washing or just pass?

  • I'm not even a germaphobe, and the answer is no. No way.

Bro, but look how many ants are on this trash can...

  • I would wear someone else's bikini bottoms - to me that is like underwear.
So if you can wear your old bottoms, I would be okay with wearing the top I think.
  • HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TO THE NO!!!!!!
  • Bottoms, out! Top, I would probably wear.

I wouldn't even do this because of the whole lactating thing.

  • this is funny to me, b/c after i had my daughter i sold all of my maternity bathing suits at a yard sale. they were the 1st thing to go. people are soo gross.  i honistly didn't think they would sell.
  • Let me quote my favorite NJ housewife Theresa and say...SKEEVE!

    Pass on the used swimwear.

  • Nope.  No way.  I would the top if it was someone I knew well, but that's it.  Not the bottoms at all.

  • I have been wearing hand-me-down tops for a while now, but bottoms are where I draw the line.

  • This baffles me.  What do people think is lingering on these clothes after the washing machine?  Jeez, wash them twice if it freaks you out....but I just don't see what the problem is.
  • Wow, I guess I'm just in the minority here but I would TOTALLY wear a hand me down maternity suit - provided that it had been washed in hot water and some legit detergent.  Way less gross than trying on swimsuits at the mall (which have been adjacent to other ladies' girly parts and NOT washed afterwards.)  Oh, well.  To each her own.  If it were me, I'd go for it after a good washing.

I'm with you on that.  I have borrowed bathing suits from a cousin and I don't think twice about using them.  I washed these, along with all the other clothes she lent to me!

  • agreed-- I dont see what the big deal is to share. Give them a good washing and call it a day. no need to freak out :)
