3rd Trimester

So with the threat of this baby coming early...

I have realized that I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of this baby.  I'm so excited, don't get me wrong, but I'm scared that I won't know what to do.  He can't come early!  I'm just not ready, and neither is he darn it!  While we have everything, it's just not all put together and ready for him yet.  What if I don't know what to do when he cries... I'm sure I sound young and naive about all of this, but I'm terrified.

  • I'm sure all of the 2nd and 3rd time moms will say this, but we've all been there.  I was terrified too.  But you figure it out very quickly.  It's OK to be scared.    Big Smile

  • Aww..I think it's normal to be terrified.  I think you just have to remember that even if he comes early, you'll figure it out.  Just have a place for him to sleep when he gets home, the car seat ready and the rest you can do later.  You'll be a great mom.  And if you need advice...we'll be on the 0-6 boards. :P

  • I feel the same way a lot of the time!  I'm so excited and have waited soooo long to have a baby, but I still have definite moments where I am just plain terrified.  From what I have been told, every mom goes through it.  We'll be okay!

    Yep. Smile

  • It's normal to be nervous.

Have you prepared?  I highly recommend reading a book or at least taking a parenting/newborn class (maybe both).  If he ends up coming early,  you may not have time for a class though!

I think the book Baby 411 is excellent.  I agreed with nearly all of their recommendations and I thought it was really easy to follow.  Reading that (or another baby care book) will give you a lot more confidence.

  • Thanks.  I'm sure it's just the hormones but I'm sitting here bawling and staring at his room thinking about everything that still needs to be done in there.  The carseat is not in the car but if I had him now, he wouldn't come home for a while.  We have one though and that's what matters I guess.  It's all just hitting me.... and DH isn't even here to calm me down!
