This is my PSA for checking dates of products before you purchase them. I went to Super Target yesterday to pick up a few things. Normally I am checking the dates on products b/c my DH obesses over these. But I was in a hurry and just grabbed some items. I got home yesterday and was putting my stuff away when I looked at the date on the pork chops I bought. The use/freeze by date was June 21. Are you kidding me? They were a week out of date. I can see maybe a day or two but a week. That is crazy.
I also bought a Old El Paso fajita kit that was on clearance. Last week when DH and I were shopping there we found two different kits on clearance and checked the dates on those and they were fine. So I didn't think to check the date on this kit. After discovering the pork chops were expired I checked the date on that and it expired on June 14.
Re: Check the dates!
I noticed this about Super Target which is why I use Kroger more. There were several times that I rushed and picked up something that was expired or expiring the next day.
I would absolutely return them. ?My husband hates my returns, but even more so when I return food. ??
He does not look at that stuff and once brought home shredded cheese with mold inside the bag. ? Of course I returned it. ? He was mortified. ?
Oh it is so going back!! I think they should know that they are selling meat that is 1 week out of date! I usually take everything back. DH was actually the one who told me to take it back. I usually do the majority of my grocery shopping at Publix or Kroger but just need to pick some things up. I don't think I will be doing that again.
DH is really weird about dates. He won't eat something on the day it expires and usually throws it out a few days before. He makes me mad b/c he will throw the bread away b/c of the date. I say if you don't see mold then the bread is ok!
I just caught that this was Super Target. ?I was at Super Target one day and noticed all of the organic onions (which are individually wrapped in plastic) had mold on them. ?
I told the produce guy who was restocking and he was like, "Oh thanks for letting me know, I will go pull them." ?I stood to the side and watched while we walked over there, picked one up and then went back to what he was doing. ? ? I checked on my way out of the store and they were still there.
gross. ?
