I've never done a "diet" but DH wanted to do the Maker's Diet a few years ago and I've tried to stay on a modified version of that since then. DH started out from stage one and cut out a ton of stuff, but I would have been going through sugar withdrawl and shaking on the sofa! When he gets into that kind of thing I generally try to cook meals with him in mind and try not to tempt him with what I'm eating too much. But I can't stay away from Chai!
I was on the South Beach diet for 4 days. I RIPPED DH's head off. Then felt horrible, apologized profusely, and 5 minutes later lit into him again. Apparently I really need carbs or I turn into a hungry incredible Hulk.
So we went to Maggianos and I ate a crapload of bread and pasta and was nice again.

LOL Janimal. That's how I was day 1 of the Maker's Diet. I decided to jsut skip to phase three and enjoy bread, some desserts and cow's milk again.
I'm a big fan of just counting calories and eating the same foods I normally would. I tracked my eating on Sparkpeople before I got pregnant and lost 15 pounds really easily.
I do like some of the South Beach Diet foods. They taste really good! I eat one of the high protein cereal bars for breakfast every morning.
Did Atkins forever ago, and while it worked, it was hell. Like star said, I like food too much to cut anything out! Weight Watchers is the only thing that has actually worked; before I got pregnant I lost 45 lbs in 5 months and was able to keep all but about 10 lbs of it off. I just went back to WW 2 weeks ago and have lost 7.2 lbs in those 2 weeks. I love that I don't ever feel deprived; I recommend it highly!

That's a good point. When DH gets serious about Maker's I always begin craving large amounts of chocolate because we're not supposed to have any at first.
I've done atkins. You'll lose everything you want, but the trick is when your done doing no carbs you have to stick w/low carb. "It's not a diet, its a lifestyle". It really does work if you stick with it....or you'll gain it all back.
i did WW about 6 years ago, for about 9 months (just the online version). i lost 50 pounds and kept it off (until i got pregnant). i'm now back down to just 2 pounds away from my pre-pg weight.
Re: S/O S. Beach What diets have you tried? non-clicky poll
Weight Watchers. I like food way too much to do a diet that eliminates or nearly eliminates a food group (south beach or adkins)
PS- WW works! In 3 weeks, I'm down 5.5 pounds AND a pants size.
I consumed the most carbs ever when I was pregnant. I really craved them toward the end.
