freezing BM...

I didn't get any answers on the BF board...

Is it necessary to refrigerate my BM prior to freezing it?  I remember reading somewhere that it should be cold before putting it in the freezer?  

AND..When I leave it in the fridge, it obviously separates, and in the lansinoh bags it doesn't separate into layers like in a bottle since the top's surface area is big when on their sides..  I assume this is fine for freezing, and when it warms, it'll do it's "normal" thing and mix properly again.

    I never put it in the fridge prior to freezing, and mine was fine. ?Yes, when it is thawed, it will separate just fine! I loved the lanolish (sp) freezer bags. ?Made it so easy!

    I don't always put my bm in the fridge before I freeze it and I've never had a problem with it.  When you are warming it up from the freezer or fridge you should always swirl it, don't shake it (there are some properties that you are breaking down by shaking it but I don't remember what they are).
