i'm not pregnant, i just want to get an opinion. i was just discussing the name with a friend and wondered which spelling most people would think of upon hearing the name.
they are both first/ last names; wolfe is english while wolf is the traditional german spelling. we may use this as a middle name for one of our children someday. it is a family name but i would be fine altering the spelling to make it look better and easier to spell [in case he goes by it instead of the first name].
which would you assume was the spelling if you heard it?
which looks better in your opinion?
Re: wolf or wolfe
If it's a family name, I'd just leave it as is. Who cares what "looks better," particularly since you're honoring family.
FWIW, I'd assume it to be spelled "Wolfe" for a name. Wolf is an animal.
I've seen it both ways and I think it looks good both ways. We had Landon Wolfe picked for a boys name (not going to get to use it this time around)
I think you should just go with what you want or think looks the best!
i like wolf because i tend to like german names but i feel like wolfe is more prevalent and wouldn't want it to be frequently misspelled [especially if he goes by that instead of his fn].
i guess it wasn't clear, i'm not using it to "honor" anyone, i just like the name and care more about what it looks like than spelling it the same way.
Ditto on all accounts.?

For a name, I like it better with an e.
And, we are probably using the name Fox if we have a boy (as a mn, but will probably call him Fox). Hadn't seen anyone else really planning on using an animal name : )
ditto all of the above.

as a middle name, I'd use wolfe.
I would actually spell it Wolf. Not only do I think it looks better, but for some reason Wolfe looks really like a last name, while Wolf looks better as a first name (to me). Also, I don't think most people are familiar with Wolf as a name, so would tend to spell it like you do the animal. Wolf just seems simpler. Cool name, btw! It's kind of out there, but I really like it.
