So many of you have internals at 36 weeks, and my doc has never even mentioned one! Not that I WANT one, but I would like to know if I am starting to dilate. Anyone else in a similar situation?
I haven't had one, and I have an appt tomorrow. I will be 38 weeks and change. I'm thinking of opting out of it. There's really no point, and they hurt like a biotch, so why bother?
My first was at 37 weeks, and that s only because I requested it. I am just about 39 weeks now and I still think they wouldn't do it unless I keep asking. At my last weeks appointment, the nurse asked if I wanted to be checked and I said yes, when the doc came in, she acted surprised and was like "do you want to be checked or something? You think you might be in labor?" I thought that was weird because with my last 2 children, they checked me every weeks from 36 weeks.
I had my membranes stripped at 39, 40, and 41 weeks and nothing happened until I went on my own. I was told each week I was 1 cm dilated and cried the whole way home because I thought it was never going to happen. I'd almost rather not know this time.
My doctors office does not do internals until you are actually in labor. So I have not had one and I am overdue. She said she will likely do one at my next appointment since we will be discussing an induction date and it will help her time when we need to get things started. Otherwise I would never have had one.
I was surprised that i didn't get one the other day either (36w5d) but it sounds like it might not be that common. I would like to know too, but on the other hand, it might just be something I would fixate on if there was no news : )
Re: Anybody else NOT had an internal? I'm almost 37 weeks!
My first was at 38 weeks (first offered at 37.)
If you want one, ask for one.?
