We got back from visiting my sister and family yesterday. Last night, about midnight thirty, Mar woke up fussing, really unusual since she's been STTN solidly for a month now. She fussed off and on for two hours and we pulled her in bed with us, fed her, etc. We finally gave her Motrin since at her 9 month appointment, the pedi said her two top teeth would be coming through soon.
We woke up this morning at 7:40 - the latest she has ever slept in - and completely freaked out. Ran into her room, and she was on fire. Her temp was 101.5. Gave her Tylenol, two hours later, it was 102.6. She took a nap, and an hour later (10 a.m.) it was 103.1. So we called the pedi and got an appointment. When they took her temp there, it was 103.9.
Her ears are perfect (the doc was really surprised and checked them twice, she was totally expecting an ear infection), her breathing is fantastic and the only thing they could see wrong was her throat was a little red, but she'd been screaming all day, so we don't know if she's getting strep or if the redness is just from crying. Her CBC was elevated, indicating an infection somewhere, but not high enough to put her in the hospital.
So we're home now, lots of rest and liquids and alternating Tylenol and Motrin and we'll go back for a recheck on Monday. Her temp dropped to 100.6 after we got home (they gave her more Tylenol in the office) but it's gone back up now to over 102.
As long as it stays below 105 and she's not refusing liquids or becoming extremely lethargic, we're okay.
This having a sick baby is some scary stuff ![]()
Re: Marion is sick
Oh no! That's just what you need on top of such a rough week. I'm so sorry Marion feels bad. Hopefully this will pass quickly, and all of you can get some rest.
When I told my husband that Marion was sick, the first thing he did was tell William he couldn't kiss Marion this week.
Oh no! Poor Mar (and mommy & daddy). Sounds like things are under control though I know it's scary for sure. I hate it when little one's are sick.
Hang in there.

that's the lowest it's been since it came on, right?
It is, so that's really good. And she woke up this morning like her old self, which is probably a better indicator of how things are going than any thermometer reading.
We'll be going back to the pedi on Monday and hopefully she'll have a normal temp by then, but I think I'm going to have to cancel playgroup, again. That makes me so sad as I could totally use the therapy this week
