DS has zero interest in trying to sit on his own- I know he doesn't NEED to right now, but I'd like to help him! I try to kind of set him between my legs on the floor so he doesn't fall sideways- sometimes he'll stay for a sec!
Usually he'll just flop forward, or fling backwards and slide down! And propping with pillows is a disaster- he just slides... ugh!
Re: How do you help LO "practice" sitting?
DS didn't want anything to do with sitting, unless it was on my lap until about 6 monts... then it was a minute here and there, finally at about 6.5 almost 7 months, he started sitting forever it seems like. For the first couple of days, he would fall a lot, but now he knows how to fall, and when I put him in that position, he'll stay sitting for up to half an hour if he's entertained.
To practice, you could use a boppy pillow and have a play mat dangly toys in front of him... (that doesn't explain it well) but ds was better at practicing when he was entertained.
