DH and I are team green, so we are having to come up with 2 different names. We have our boy's name picked out and know if it is a girl, we want to use MaKynna.
Our last name is 3 syllables, begins with a S and ends with a H. Obviously I am thinking we need something short for a middle name, but we haven't been able to come up with a name we both agree on.
Thanks!
Re: Middle name to go with MaKynna?
Yes, the spelling is awful.
It looks like you didn't know how to spell it so you tried to phonetically sound it out--Makenna. Then decided that wasn't youneek enough and threw in a Y for good measure--Makynna--Perfect!
And a random capitalized K in the middle!
Sorry. I can't think of anything that would sound good with MaKynna. It really is not a great name, IMO, because the spelling is just...very bad. Makenna is a perfectly good name on its own...you don't need to jazz up the spelling to make it unique.
What about Makenna Grace? Makenna Rose? Makenna Elizabeth? Or you could jazz the name up, if you desire, with an alternative middle name, like Makenna Allyson? All of those are really pretty.
Oh yes, I forgot that little nugget! That is the cherry on top!
MaKenna Jade
MaKenna Ruth
MaKenna Jane
MaKenna Rose
MaKenna Eve
MaKenna Hope
MaKenna Quinn
MaKenna Pearl
I can deal with the capitalized K (although I don't prefer it). But for the love of the child, forgo the Y.
Ditto PP.
I don't even pronounce that spelling as Makenna! My brain wants to say My-Kina, like "My Kind of." Not good. Makenna is a beautiful name, don't butcher it by making up the spelling.
She will have to pronounce and spell it for the rest of her life. Think about it.
ETA: Makenna Jane is the first thing that came to my mind.

Ditto. That is a horrible spelling.
First of all, get rid of the name MaKynna, start over on first names, then return to ask about a middle name.
Sorry, you've been flamed enough for this one and I just couldn't resist, but I'm no good at being mean. If this name REALLY means something to you, go for it. Just know that all this poor child's life she is going to LOATH having to pronounce it for everyone, having to spell it for everyone, etc. Take it from someone with a "creative" spelling for her first name. I changed my name legally to a more common spelling in my 20s and am so happy I did it!
This is a joke, right?
Makenna Rae was on our list.
I'm not crazy about the MaKynna spelling, but I don't think it's as horrible as others have said.
When I see this spelling I think it's pronounced Ma Kine A, is that what you are going for our are you looking for a unique spelling of Mackenna?
Since I don't know what it's supposed to be it's hard to give a mn suggestion.
Sorry.
First of all, I have to say, I was helping a friend pick a name for her daughter who is due in a few months. I helped her come up with Makynna and she loves it. We were looking around the net and found this post. After reading all the flames you got, I just had to sign up and offer you some of the support that you clearly did not get.
It's wonderful. I love it. And you know what? Having a name that's spelled differently is SO not a big deal. All my life my entire name has been butchered, even my married name. It doesn't bother me. Even basic names with simple spellings can be butchered. I've got a friend named Sarah, people always forget the H at the end... Hell, I get "Dannie", "Danni", "Danie" and "Danny" ALLLLLL the time. It's just not a big deal. You know what happens usually when I have to correct the spelling of my name? "Oh, that's so cute!"
Personally, I think MaKynna lends itself to plenty of middle names.

I could go on. The name is beautiful hon, no matter how you spell it. I'm sorry that so few of these women were able to tactfully tell you that they weren't big fans of the name, or even offer you middle name options. Good luck. Oh, and sorry that I'm replying almost a year late. But like I said, I couldn't NOT say something.
Thanks, but it looks like baby Andrew has already been born.
