anyone's lo STILL have clogged tear ducts?

my friend's baby does and he's 7 months old. i am sure this is really insensitive, but it drives me nuts! she doesn't have any medicine for it, she never massages it, and NEVER cleans it! he is always gunky, always having trouble opening his eyes, and it's the first thing people comment on...but it doesn't seem to bug her. i just feel sorry for him. i'd think i'd be wiping them down, massaging, doing whatever i could to make him more comfortable (and look better).

    oh, my point was i think this is strange. wondering if other people just "let it go" for this long and don't even try to help.

    DD had a clogged tear duct until she was at least 9 months old.  We'd try rubbing it when she'd let us.  Finally we got better at it (or she got used to it!) and it started to clear up.  We never had meds for it.

    DD had them until 8 months old.  No more since then...knock on wood.
