3rd Trimester

Getting baby to turn (out of breach)?

I realize it's still very early, but I'm pretty sure my LO is breach, because all the kicks I get are in the lower abdomen.  My doctor said they don't consider it an issue until 37 weeks, though I've heard elsewhere that ideally she turns by 32 weeks.  Has anyone tried alternative methods of turning your baby?  Any thoughts?  And for those of you whose baby was turned manually, how badly did it hurt?

  • Don't know much about it but here's a link...HTH & I wouldn't worry too much yet!

  • My doctor said that if Grant stays breech then at 36 weeks we will schedule a c-section automatically. She said if it is your first baby... they don't like to try and turn the baby manually because it is very painful and 95% of the time doesn't work on a first time mom anyway. Good Luck!
  • My baby was Frank Breech for about a month. It turned head down at 37 weeks. So there is still hope your baby will turn. I have heard the version hurts ALOT. Do lots of the excerises on spinningbabies.com.

  • Our little girl was breech on the 27 week u/s, but now I'm feeling movement all over instead of just in my lower abdomen, so I'm not sure how she is sitting.  A midwife suggested lying on my back, knees up, push your belly up until in line with thighs, and putting a support under your bottom to hold you up.  Then to put music on the lower abdomen and lie like that for about 10 minutes a day...she says that ought to help.  But my dr. said too not to worry until later, but I am going to try that technique just in case.
  • My baby is almost always transverse. ?My OB said she would like to see the baby turn between 32-34 weeks. I have been seeing a chiro for my hip and back pain and he is helping to line my pelvis up, which should help the baby get into the correct position.

?I am not too worried about it. ?Baby has plenty of room to move around right now and will probably turn at some point. ?I am not going to do the Version if he doesn't turn, but I will try some less invasive techniques. ?

My baby was breach at my 21 wk u/s, but this week at our 3D she was head down. I walk my dog every day, and have gone swimming multiple times all which are supposed to help the baby turn. GL!

  • My friends baby was breach and she was told to get on all fours and mop every floor in her house by hand.  Something with that position is supposed to make baby move...and hey, if it doesn't work, at least you have clean floors... :)
