What does your tummy sleeper wear to bed?

I'm thinking about letting DS sleep on his tummy tonight. He lives in onesies and I usually swaddle him, so should I just swaddle with his arms out? We don't really own any sleepers with footies or sleep sacks, and I want to make sure he's still warm.

ETA: I use a SwaddleMe blanket, so his legs are not wrapped up tight. I think it's more like a sleep sack if I keep his arms out.

  • DD just started sleeping on her tummy because she started rolling on her tummy herself.  We do not swaddle her, and she just wears a onsie or a sleep sack.

  • Depends on the temp in your house.  My daughter was just in a onesie and socks the past few nights and that was plenty.  There is no central AC here though so it's not like her room is cold.
  • A onesie.  I wouldn't feel comfortable swaddling him if he was on his tummy or if he was able to roll on his tummy - he needs to be able to move his arms and legs to roll and move his head.
  • Well we're in the tropics so unless its an unusually cold night just a oneseis and socks; no swaddle.

I feel like he will be too cold in just a onesie. I use a SwaddleMe blanket, so it's like a sleep sack on the bottom and he can still move his legs a bunch. If I swaddle him with his arms out I think he would be able to move pretty well. Wdyt?

This exactly.  I don't think dd would be able to move well enough if she was swaddled.  She sleeps in a footed sleeper or a onesie + sleep sack.

  • Do you have any cotton pants that you could use since you don't have any sleepers?  I have done that with my other kids before when I needed something more then a onesie but didn't want to put them in a sleeper.  It doesn't matter if it is part of a regular outfit as long as it is comfy enough

Yes I could probably do this. Just makes the nighttime diaper changes a little harder.

  • Just a sleeper with footies, we don't have much else. I would not put him in anythign too confining, in case they want to squirm around or roll over. We have also put DD in a onesie with a light weight blanket up to her low back to cover her legs and wrapped it around her legs a bit when a sleeper was dirty.
