Cloth Diapers...explain?

Okay...I've been hearing lots of debates lately (work and thenest) about this.

Can someone please explain how this works? In my head I just see....a wet t-shirt wrapped around the kid leaking. Obviously I'm wrong.

Thanks!

  • There is so much information. Here are some blog entries from our own MrsDonkey on the subject: https://babyrabies.com/category/cloth-diapers/

  • We use cloth diapers and they are far from a tshirt with a dripping wet baby :)

They are more like a real diaper (the ones we use) just made out of washable material.  They velcro or snap shut (depending on the type you use) and you put them on just like a regular sposie.  There are several types out there...too many to go into here.  But they are great and really don't leak and are even better than the "regular" diaper.

You should check out some websites to see some.  I highly recommend them.  We use BumGenius (favorite), Haute Pockets (OK, but not the HP insert), Kushies (cheaper and OK), and used to use prefolds with a cover.  If you read up, you will learn more about what that means

Check out www.cottonbabies.com , www.diaperpin.com , and just any search for cloth diaper info.  They've come a long way from the old days :)

  • We LOVE cloth diapers!  You can go to www.babiesbottomsandmore.com and contact the owner to set up an appointment to feel and see the diapers in person.  I highly recommend doing this!  I was so lost reading every single site I could find until I got my hands on diapers.  My advice would be to buy a few different brands and styles to find out what works best for you and baby.

  • Thanks ladies!

We're nowhere near ready for babies, but I might as well learn as much as I can before that time comes!
