Excuse to get out of family event?

I feel bad, but I have a family event to go to tonight and I don't want to. It's from 7-9 and me, DH and DS were all going to go. Then I decided they should stay home since it's so close to DS's bedtime and I would go. I don't want to go now there's so much drama with my family and I don't want to deal. Plus, I'm tired! I don't want to use the "one of us is sick" excuse. Anyone want to help me with an excuse? :-)

  • Tell them you broke a nail. lol

J/K I'm not good. I'd just say one of you is sick.

  • I think since its last min - the sick excuse is going to be it!

  • Tell them you had a rough day at work and have a splitting headache so you are going to bow out.  After the day you had, you wouldn't be good company.
  • I think the best last minute excuse is to be sick. No one can really argue with that.

  • Both cars ran out of gas?  I dunno, if it is my family and I just don't feel like going I tell them nicely I'm out.

  • Food poisoning?  Plumbing leak?  Call at 7:30 and say OMG I fell asleep?  or you can use Marsha Brady's excuse: "Something suddenly came up".....LOL  GL!  I hate family events myself as you can see.......LOL
  • I'd go with sick, probably something like a stomach virus. They should be thrilled that you didn't come in that case!

I'm lucky that just about everyone in my family know I get chronic migraines, so that's pretty much my go to excuse if I don't feel like going somewhere.
