Q: OB Visit Frequency

How often do you visit your OB if you are past 32 weeks?

The reason I ask is because I saw mine yesterday, but he didn't schedule my next appointment until July 29th - and that's when he will do the internal and strep B. I will be 37 weeks by then, and I'm assuming he will want to see me once a week after that. I just have a weird feeling about waiting another entire month from now. I thought he would want to see me back in 2 weeks max. He is my Dr. and I will listen to what he says... but I'm just curious on how often you ladies visit your OB?

Edit: I guess one of the reasons for this paranoia of mine is because my best friend's baby was stillborn last week...

My OB sees patients every 2 weeks after 28 weeks. The she sees them once a week from 36 weeks till delivery.

I started seeing my OB every two weeks once I hit 28 weeks, then once a week starting at 36 weeks. I think I would call the doctor's office just to make sure that he meant for a whole month to go by. Maybe it was a mistake.

I had a 32 week appointmnt, then a 36 week one. My doctor doesn't do weekly visits. She does them every other week. So I'll have one at 38 and then 40.

After 32 weeks, it was every 2 weeks. After 36 weeks, every week.

I just moved and switched doctors. I would have been seen every two weeks at my previous location but now have four weeks between my 32 and 36 weeks appointments. However, I'm registered with L&D and they've made very clear that if I have any problems that I can go straight there. Unless you have complications or a specific reason that you need to be seen more often, it's probably just your doctor's policy to keep the four-week schedule.

I believe at 30 weeks he scheduled me to come back in 3 weeks, then at 33 weeks it was 2 weeks just once, then after 35 weeks I started going every week.

That does seem like a large gap considering how far along you are. But I'm no expert on that.

My appointments have been every 2 weeks since 30 weeks. After next week's appointment & start my weekly appts.

After 30 wks my OB starts to see you every 2wks. I'm not completely sure when she starts the once a week, maybe at 36 or 37wks.

Should be every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 and then every week, as in:

28,30,32,34,36,37,38,39,40

After 30 weeks every 3 weeks for two visits, then every week starting at 36 weeks.

Thanks for your answers. I knew something didn't seem right. I'll send a message to OB about this without trying to undermine him... or I will keep the appointment and call L&D at a moment's notice if something comes up.

I am going every two weeks right now (I am 33 weeks) and have been since 28 weeks. I will go every week after 36. It does seem pretty far between for you - maybe call and ask?
