Has anyone made a video profile instead of a profile book? Our agency uses videos instead of books, and I am trying to get some ideas. I'm sure the agency will show us examples when we get to that point, but I am curious if anyone else has done this or has examples they can share until then.
Thanks!
Re: Adoption Profile Videos
Our agency just used books. I think using videos is an interesting idea, but I think I feel more comfortable w/ my book!
We only do a 2-page profile, then we will have to do a DVD. Sadly, we haven't seen any yet, so I can't give any advice.
I can just say DH is NOT looking forward to it, but our SW says it's usually what helps a BM narrow down her choices of PAPs.
Totally this. I had no problems with meeting with the BM after she selected us but I don't think I would be comfortable with a video. I realize she has a really big decision ahead of her and that selecting a family for her child should not be taken lightly but P-APs have their lives looked at with a magnifying glass already. Just doing the paper profile sometimes feels so hard let alone having a camera on you with no interaction from another person. I don't think I could do that.
There is interaction. We're going through a training before we do it, and I'm anxious to hear what they have to say and see other videos. I'll let you know when we do it. Shoud be interesting.
Our agency (if we stay with them) uses the video in place of a profile book. Once the BM has reviewed the profile video and selected a family, she and the hopeful family have a face to face meeting.
In place of? Interesting. Maybe that's what's worked best for them.
I'll be anxious to hear your experiences with it. In a weird way, I'm kind of looking forward to it.
