I heard that he had been taken to the hospital today on our way home, but they didn't know anything else. DH just got home and said that he had a heart attack.
Honestly, it makes me sad. I remember watching "Thriller" on MTV the very first time it aired, I saw the Grammys when he moonwalked across the stage. His weirdness eclipsed his music in the end, which should never happen, but it's still sad.
I'm sad for Farrah too - we used to watch "Charlie's Angels" on the American station in Tehran. What a DAY.
Re: Wow. Michael Jackson is dead too.
Honeslty, I'm not losing sleep over either one. (I'll leave it at that).
Although, I do have sympathy for their families/friends who loved them.
I don't think a lot of people will be losing sleep over him, but he was and still is a tremendous musical influence that is a huge loss. It totally sucks that all of that is lost in the light of his BSC actions.
I agree.
(PS still have the video and making of the video "Thriller" on Beta in a box in my attic. LOL)
This is truly sad. I love his music and it is ashamed that all his craziness will overshadow his great career.
Thriller and Remember the Time are my all time favorite videos...I am pretty sure I could still do the dance routine for both.
He is the Greatest entertainer of all times.
OMG, I LOVE Remember the Time - I love to watch the dancing in it, it is just the coolest. The song is great too!
And Thriller is hands down my absolute FAVORITE MJ song and video. BNL, I'm totally jealous of your "making of" tape, I would love to see that again. I love zombie movies, so that video was always something I had to watch if it came on, and total BONUS if it was the extended version! His eyes at the end never failed to creep me out.
It makes me sad too. Honestly, when I was a kid I LOVED his music. I danced to a ton of his songs and would put his tape in the tape player and dance around with all my friends listening to his music.
Okay...so, here's the real test of who was a TRUE fan of MJ growing up....
did you have the "pleather" red jacket that was "bedazzled" AND a white glove with sequins? Yes, my sister and I both did.
Oh heck no - while I liked his music and had a cassette of the Thriller album, I was most definitely a Depeche Mode/Thompson Twins/Cure/Morrissey, et al., girl. I dressed like a really depressed Madonna, hee - all black with Robert Smith's blood red lips. I even had a tail down the side (not the back, I couldn't braid it then)!
LMAO!!
Sam (my older sister) and I used to put on our sunglasses and sing and dance to Private Eyes by Hall 'n Oates. Oh, and we'd also put on our dad's vinyl of Kenny Rogers' "the Gambler" and dance around our living room making up dance moves.
Those were the days......LOL
I am not ashamed to say Yes I did LOL!!! I wore it while I played my Bad and Thiller albums (yes album
) I played those albums so much they warped.
I remember my mother bought me the Thiller album for my birthday. I had a slumber party and we talked all night long about how I was going to marry MJ.
HAHAHAHA!!! Awesome!
Very first concert I went to was Hall & Oates, for the "Big Bam Boom" tour. We were SO close to the stage that I swore up and down that Oates pointed at me, hee.
Of course many years later I also went to Nine Inch Nails' very first tour for "Pretty Hate Machine" and almost got trampled in the mosh pit, but hey, it was fun.
I had it on tape and wore the writing off of it, hee. But of course I spent MANY days planning my enormous wedding to Simon Le Bon or John Taylor, TYVM. I could never decide between the two. But then I saw Dave Gahan and that was it, bye bye Duran Duran.
Aww man I had the whole wedding planned out too. But then New Edition came out and I had a whole new love of my life LOL. Thinking about everyone I thought I was going to marry... I should be divorced about 15 times by now LOL.
Oh yes, me too. We would have been quite the hussies if that had truly been the case, hee.
I could so handle being a rich hussy. Really. It would not bother me in the least!
I didn't have the jacket, but I had the 'Beat It' shirt and a curl!! Back in the day, you weren't cool if you didn't play the Thriller video at your birthday party!! (And, Flygeah, I still know the dance too)
Hee I had a curl too
I was talking to my mother yesterday and she asked me did I teach the dance to my sisters LOL.
