I really don't get people who are absolutely heart broken when someone famous dies to the point where they wait outside the hospital, bring flowers, etc. It is one thing to be a bit upset but it isn't like you were close with this person. I just see some of the pictures near the hospital and in Gary, Ind and I think these people are nuts. I want to shake these people and say get a life.
I can understand when a political/spiritual leader dies especially of unnatural causes but I guess I see that as being different.
Re: What I don't get when someone famouse dies...
I agree with standing outside the hospital! Do they really think they are going to be able to see the person?! They are dead! They are not coming out!!
I do understand flowers/pics left places as a sign of respect though.
Wait. What? I flew out to Indiana for nuttin'?
Some peoples worship is misidrected.
I think that it also depends on the person and the culture that is supporting it. Do you know who the singer Selena was? She died in 1995. She was the most popular Latin singer of her time when she was killed. There were candle-light vigils and all that. They built a statue in Corpus Christi, Texas, and a museum, and both are still visited today. She really lead the way for female Latin singers.
I guess that I can see where Michael Jackson is similar to this, even though I don't particularly like him.
Meh. I wept and wept when Princess Di passed away.
People grieve. And many want to grieve with company.
