Baby laundry - doesn't smell clean! Help!

Tonight I decided to start a few loads of baby laundry, and I bought the All Free and Clear detergent.  The first load I did was baby blankets, and I am disappointed because the blankets don't smell "clean" to me at all.  They actually still smell like the store!  Any advice on how to "freshen" up the smell of the laundry!?  I was thinking of trying some of the Free and Clear dryer sheets, but I wasn't sure if these would make a difference or not.  I know the fragrances aren't good for the baby's skin, but I guess I always related clean clothes to a nice, fresh smell and I am not getting that.  Sorry if this sounds silly, but does anyone have any suggestions?!

    That's the point...they're fragrance free!
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

  • Most of the free and clear detergents are fragrance free. If you want your baby clothes to have a scent after you wash them you could always use dreft.
  • Hang them outside to dry in the sun.  Doesn't get more fresh than fresh air!

  • Yea, I used All F&C for the first time yesterday and was surprised by the smell. I thought they would smell like something.  I'd rather they smell like nothing, though, instead of all perfumey and Dreft-y. My baby will make them smell good : )
  • Bounce sells fragrance free dryer sheets and I just started using them (figured might as well just do all the laundry in the fragrance free stuff) and it makes the laundry smell "clean" if that makes any sense. Not really like any particular flower or mountain freshness, but the definitely smell good.
  •  Here's a list of laundry detergents rated with baby in mind.  If you want a detergent that's free of everything but fragrance this will be your best bet for finding one I think.  HTH!

(I dunno what's going on, but it won't let me make it a link!  Sorry!)

This. I have Mrs. Myer's baby detergent, stain remover, and dryer sheets and they smell sooo good. It's all natural. I'm not sure how much they are or where you can get them because it was a gift.

Be careful b/c those also have fabric softner in them which baby can be allergic to and it can damage the flame retardant-ness... I have no idea how to word that! sorry.
