I've noticed friends putting a lot of emphasis on designing the perfect nursery, but then planning on having the baby in the room with them - not in the nursery - for the first 3-6 months.
I voted in the room but not co-sleeping. But I will only have her there for the 1st month. Not the 3-4 months. But I am a first time mom and am not ashamed to say that this is my plan and I hope to stick to it, but whatever the baby seems to work best with is what we will do.
I wound up doing a variety of things with DD> I said I would never co-sleep and yet I did! I did not co-sleep all the time, she started in a basinette, sometimes slept in my arms, then she around 2 months didnt like sleeping on me and was too loud to sleep in the?bassinet?so we took her to her crib. I sometimes slept in a twin bed in the room so my husband wouldn't be woken up. Later at 3.5 months I co-slept in a twin bed with her that was pushed against the wall, she always slept on her back next to me and not?necessarily?touching me. At 4 or 5 months we moved her back into the crib. It varied and we change as we needed to.
We were originally just going to have him sleep in his crib from day 1, but then my father built us this amazing cradle. So he will sleep in that for the first few months in our room.

At the moment we plan on having him in our room in a bassinette in the beginning. But we'll see how it goes. He may stay there a week or a few months. He'll still be moved to the nursery, and when he does I'd like it to look nice. Somehow I imagine I'll have more time now to work on it than I will after he's born...

I'm not totally sure how I'm going to do it. I know she will be in our room for a while but depending on how breastfeeding goes depends on whether she is in the bed with us or not!
Nursery in his/her crib. Our room is way to small and is literally right across the hall. If there is a prob. with that, we will cross that bridge when we get there.
