for $5K.....with a letter stating that i am one of the "winners for shoppers sweepstakes" and that they were trying to reach me but were unsuccessful....the letter further states that my price is $250k.

lol - that will truly be the answer to all of my problems but this smells of one big fat scam.

the chk is authentic with bank and routing # but it just seems like those emails that everyone gets saying "the prince of africa just died and you have inherited millions" lol

the letter asks me to call them but they're in canada and im afraid its gonna rack up my phone bill...what do you all think?

Votalo!!!! If someone sends you a check, you shouldn't have to call anyone.

I heard of a scam where they send you a check to get you to deposit it and then write out one for a lesser amount- by the time the check they gave you bounces you are already out $$$

I got the same thing last week but it was for 10k. I called the postal service and reported it. They are tracking the zip codes of where the letters are getting sent.
