I just want to skip the toddler bed and get a twin size bed but DH thinks its a bad idea. I think DD would do fine in a full size as she would in a toddler. ::sigh::
yeah we are going to skip to a full. aidan would not think a toddler bed is a "big girl bed" so we'd have problems. we are going straight to a big bed and never turning back.
My friend put her DD in a full size HIGH off the ground bed - she did fine!? I say DO IT!
?
That is the thing, we have a queen size bed and B can climb up and down just fine! I just see it as why spend the money on a toddler bed to have to go buy a full size bed for her in another 1-2 years if I think she will do okay in a bigger bed now.....kwim. ?
Logan did great in his twin. It's also really high off the ground we just made a big deal out of it and he was excited to sleep in it. The only downfall is he wants all his stuffed animals in there with him.
It just depends when we move Katie. If there's going to be a new baby soon, she'll go straight to the full size bed in the guest room. If we're not even pg when we move her, we'll convert her crib to a toddler bed.
My daughter is in a full size bed and she loves it. We put it up against a wall and the other side we have a bed rail. then at the end of the bed we have her toy box so she can crawl up and down the bed.
My kids both went right to twin sized beds and they were fine. My DD was only 20 months when we made the switch.
One thing I would think about, though, is how much of a snuggler/cuddler she is. I was just talking to a friend who had trouble switching her 3 year old son from crib to a big bed. He really liked to scrunch into a corner of the crib, and his big bed just didn't seem to feel as cozy to him. She solved her problem by getting a fun tent to put over the bed. I think when kids have loveys and like to hug something, it doesn't matter much how big the bed is -- they just snuggle down with their stuffed animal or blanket. For kids who like to feel cozy and bundled up -- a smaller bed might work better.
im having the same exact issue....with DD 2 on the way. have you though about getting those bed rail things where they cant fall out? i was at a second hand store the other day and then had a million of them so im guessing they arent alot of $$ there?
We moved DS directly from his crib to a full-size bed. ?We already had the mattress and it has worked out just fine. ?He's never fallen out. ?If you're worried - you could buy guard rails - those can go on any size bed, can't they?

We went to a twin, we just started out with the mattress on the floor (DD was only 16mo though). A couple weeks ago we put the box springs under it. In a couple more months we'll put a bed frame back on it. There's no bed rail on it because she stopped rolling off the bed back when it was just a mattress on the floor, but we used a bed rail on our queen bed back when we coslept and it worked fine.
Toddler bed, toddler bedding... just seem like such a waste of money for something they'll outgrow so soon. Now if you had a convertible crib that'd be a different story.
Oh, also, when DD gets upset at night I LOVE that I can just go crawl in bed with her if she won't go back to sleep. Can't do that with a toddler bed!
