MM..i have another one for you (Filipino MIL)

tony rememberd the "don't go to sleep with wet hair or you'll go blind" from his nanay (grandma) he also told me she told him he couldn't wash his hair with hot water or he would go bald...

and he told me there was another story about a monster in a tree with a long tongue that would come take your baby if you did something but he can't remember

    OMG!  Dh tried the wet hair thing on DD, she told him he was dumb.  I almost peed my pants, she's 4!

    I'm going to have to ask DH for some funny stories so tell the ladies.

    Has your MIL taught you how to cook any of the Filipino dishes?  I know how to make adobo and that's about it.  Lumpia is too hard to make, I leave that up to her.

    OMG lumpia so f'ing good.  its easy to fry but to put it together is a pain.  i want to learn how to make pansit (sp) because thats the "good luck" dish and I want to be able to make that at home for special occasions.  but some of the other stuff scares me

    like the "blood cake" dina gu on or something its called. Indifferent

    MIL makes pancit for everyone's birthdays so I leave it up to her.  I think it's fairly simple, but there's a lot of chopping involved.

    She sticks with the more basic foods, I would die if she brought over blood cake.  Blech.
