3rd Trimester

Anyone get prescribed a Cat. C medication?

On Monday my doctor prescribed some medication for something I'm going through and I picked it up yesterday.  On the package it clearly states that this is a Category C medication and pregnant woman should avoid as much as possible.  I called her (she was on call yesterday) but she told me it would be fine.

I'm just wondering if anyone else had been prescribed a Cat. C medication for whatever reason.  I took it yesterday but I skipped today because I'm uneasy about it.

  • It's typically one of those things where, if the risk to mom out weighs the risk to the baby, you should take it. So if its a med you need, take it.

  • Sudafed is a category C drug and many ladies take that.  Ditto what pp said..the risk and benefits need to be considered.

  • I took Phenergan in my 1st trimester.  My doc OKs Category C medications all the time.  He acts like it is no big deal.  I feel very uneasy taking them.  But if you need the medicine, you should take it.
