Parenting after a Loss

C-section girls: How long did you bleed for?

I had completely stopped bleeding on Saturday then it started again on Tuesday. I did trip over my little dog and fell Monday night so I don't know if I moved things around and that's why it started again (Doc said he doesn't think it was the fall - I already emailed him). The week after my c-section the bleed was really light. Now it's been heavier and darker red almost thick bleeding if that makes sense. Anyways, how long did yall bleed after your c-section?

thanks - wendy

  • 2.5 weeks.  I delivered at 29 weeks though so I bet I didn't have as much blood as a full-termer.

  • I bled for almost 6 weeks on and off.  It was light in the hospital and got heavier when I got home.  It stayed heavy for almost 2 weeks and then light for the rest of the time.  It was light enough for a light pad or pantyliner and not everyday which was annoying.
  • I bled for 5 days after I came home. It stopped for an entire week...then started for another week. By 3weeks PP it was done. I still have some random spotting every now and then so I always wear a pantyliner but nothing major.

  • I bled heavily for 2 weeks and then spotted for about another 3 weeks.  I would have random days of a heavier flow during those last 3 weeks.  My dr said that was a sign of doing too much.

  • I bled for about 4-5 weeks.  It stopped shortly before my 6 week pp appointment.  It was heaviest right at the beginning but I spotted for weeks.

  • With Kian, I bled for 6wks (although it wasn't too heavy, especially at first, and it really tapered off to just spotting the last few weeks).  With Carter I believe my bleeding was shorter than that, maybe 3wks if I'm remembering correctly?  It is normal for it to stop and start a bit in those first few weeks, I believe.
  • I bled like a light period for 4 weeks, then it was just the tiniest bit but I needed a pantyliner until 6 weeks.

This is how I was also. It also seemed like the more I did, the heavier I would bleed.
