I'm almost 17 weeks and still down 5 lbs. from my prepreg. weight. The m/s is finally much better although it still bothers me from time to time so I'm guessing I'll start gaining soon. Right now I still barely have an appetite even though I've been feeling good. My next appointment is on 7/3, and I bet the doctor will bring up the weight loss.
Anyone else not gain for this long?
Re: Weight post below has me worried
I found out I was having twins at 12 weeks. I was told to gain between 10-15 pounds.
According to my dr's office my last appointment prior to delivery which was less then 5 days. I was actually down a pound from my first visit - so according to them I actually lost weight. I only gained 10 pounds with my daughter also.
According to my scale at home I gained 10 pounds.
I was sick several times a day every day and even threw up the morning of my delivery. I had desire most days to even eat - I did it because I had to.
My doctor's were fine with my weight gain or loss depending on how you look at it.
Also I am overweight so I am sure that had a lot to do with it as they told me the same thing when I was pregnant with my dd. The may sound gross, but they told me that the babies can live off my fat. It was just important to take my vitmans every day and drink enough H20. I did that.
I had a girlfriend that had 3 boys - with each pregnancy she gained less weight. Her first pregnancy she only gained 10 lbs, 2nd 7 lbs, 3rd 5 lbs. And she was ideal body weight for her height.
Talk to your doctor I am sure at this point he might not be overly concerned with it as long as it doesn't continue.
If your worried try to eat more protein when you can (i always made sure I ate protein). I lived of PB & J. Or drink ensure.
I didn't start gaining until 16 or 18 weeks and I ended up gaining 56lbs and delivered at 36wks 3days. Most of mine was water weight in the end. The nurses had never seen feet that swollen. I also think it might have something to do with pre-pregnancy weight. I was 120 and am 5' 7 1/2" so I was only 3lbs from being considered "underweight". I wouldn't worry unless your doctor brings it up.
Good Luck!

I think I am a bit more concerned because I was at an acceptable low end of the spectrum weight to begin with and now I am borderline underweight. My ob told me at my very first appointment that he wanted me to gain 40-50 lbs. by the end. I guess I have some catching up to do.
I was SUPER sick my entire pregnancy -- throwing up at least 1x a day from weeks 6 - 18 and then 1 - 2x a week after that. I only gained 19lbs total (I'm average height/weight . . . 5'7, 170lbs) . . . my twins were born at 32w6d and both were over 4lbs and healthy. My OB never once said anything about my lack of weight gain . . . as long as the babies continued to grow and looked healthy she was fine with where I was at weight-wise.
I will add that I LIVED on protein shakes b/c I was so worried about their weight gain. I had at least one Ensure or Boost shake a day.
I'm 29 weeks and am finally up 6 pounds. I'm a small person naturally and didn't have any extra "fluff" so to speak going into this pregnancy. I had hyperemesis until week 18 or 19 and was on a zofran pump. I was even set up to receive fluids at home multiple times as I was that sick. At this point I'm still throwing up once or twice a day. While my doctor would like for me to gain weight, they understand that I am trying my hardest and its just not possible.
That said, my babies are growing just great. Earlier this week they were 2.6 and 3.4 pounds which both are above average for 29 weks so the babies aren't suffering just my body is. I can tell I've lost weight from my thighs/hips/butt as clothes I wore when I was pregnant w/ DD are fitting a lot differently this time, but I figure I'll deal w/ that after I get the babies here safely.
