Moms of 5-7 month olds, what are your little one's favorite foods? ?Are you using jar food or making your own? ?Have you started giving anything besides jar type food?
DD will be 6 months on Sunday and her favorites are peas, bananas, and apples. ?Oatmeal, carrots, sweet potatoes, and rice are ok. ?Pears are only ok if mixed with bananas.
We have given DD ripe banana in the mesh feeder thing. ?She figured it out right away and loves it!?
Re: 5-7 months old - favorite foods?
M loved sweet potatoes, squash, & pizza crust. At 7 months we started to give her pretty much everything.?
She also loved cut up broccoli & cauliflower. I just made sure it was virgin & cooked soft enough to be mashed in her gums. ?
The baby's usually excited for anything I give her, though plain baby cereals are not a favorite and she doesn't eat a whole lot (about 1.5 oz/day). I make the food at home and try to get organic when possible where it counts. She's had pretty standard stuff so far: apples, pears, banana, avocado, peaches, green beans, carrots, squash, sweet potato, corn, peas, blueberries, yogurt, lentils, melon.?
We're going to get more adventurous since she's over 7 months now and hasn't had any reactions so far (except yogurt - makes her skin reddish where it touches so holding off on cow's milk stuff). Plans for next foods are: zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, broccoli, cucumber, egg yolks, chicken, turkey, kasha, and to taste, adding garlic, onions, cinnamon, vanilla, mint, etc. I might also start adding a little bit of olive oil and ground flax seeds to some things.
The mesh feeder is great. I put frozen food chunks in there like peaches or melon and it makes a good teether. ?
