I seriously do not know why we didn't do this sooner!
So A was waking up every 2-3 hours for almost 6 weeks straight. Exhausted we started putting her down BEFORE she was asleep. She would automatically get up and cry so we let her cry for a few minutes at a time and then go back in and put her down. The first night DH put her back down 13 times. Last night she went down after 2 times and slept in two 5 hour stretches.
Naps are easier also. She still struggles right before she falls asleep but I think being consistant is helping. I was pretty against CIO but she does cry for a few minutes at a time. It's hard to not run in there and scoop her up but I think we finally got our bed and sanity back.
Not perfect of course, two nights ago she ended back in bed with me at 5am but that is better than sleeping the entire night with us.

That's fantastic! May I ask what you did when she woke after 5 hours? Did you feed her or just repeat the process? (putting her down)
Good work!
Repeat the process, ie tucking her lovey under her arm, pulling up her blanket and patting her belly a few times.
