IUI and Ov question

My follicles are a little slower than average to develop so I typically O later than average, too. (Not that anyone here is average! :)

So, typically, when I go in for a sono on CD 11 or 12, I have one primary follicle that measures around 17 or 18.  I was on estrogen this cycle to thicken my lining and my doc wanted me to come in on CD 13 instead.  When I went in, my primary follicle measured 23.  I got a trigger shot and went back the next day (approx 30 hours later) for my IUI.  We did another sono before the IUI and the follicle had collapsed.  Now I am wondering if we did the IUI too late.  What has been your experience?  I know I am over analyzing EVERYTHING.  Last cycle, I am pretty sure we did the IUI too early.   Trouble is, I use the home OPK and the last three cycles have never gotten a positive surge according to the OPK.  Argh!!!

Re: IUI and Ov question

  • ugh!  How frustrating!  Can you ask to be monitored a little closer to avoid this for the next round?

the good thing is that the egg usually stays put for about 24-36 hours so there is still hope!

  • From my understanding, once the egg leaves there is a 24 hour window during which fertilization can take place.  It sounds to me like pretty perfect timing Smile  The trigger normally causes O to happen 36 hours later, so you did O a little early, but it couldn't have been much earlier than your procedure.

    Best of luck!!!!
