Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Need tips for a long car ride with LO

We are headed to NM this weekend and it will be an 8 hour trip each way... I may want to die when it's all over with but I never get to see my little brother and his budding family..

What can I do to make this as easy as possible for my baby? We're leaving later in the afternoon so hopefully she'll sleep the whole time.

Tips?

We are going on an 11 hour drive to wyoming in 2 weeks. We are leaving at midnight when DH gets off of work so DS will sleep. If you can drive during the night, I recommend it. This way, we catch 7 hours of nonstop sleep and then his first nap will be done almost when we get there. He tends to sleep longer in the car, too because of the vibration. GL!

  • Okay!  I think that's what we'll do!  Thanks!!

  • We have road tripped a few times since DD has been born and we find it MUCH easier to leave about an hour before nap time.  That way she can play in the car with her toys and then drift off to sleep.  The majority of the time she will sleep for a few hours and when she wakes we have about a 30 - 45 min window before she gets ansy.  At that point, we pull off at a rest stop and get out for a bit, feed, change, play for a little then get back on the road.  It's nice to "picnic" for a little at the rest area now that the weather is warmer.  It was REALLY hard to road trip in the winter. HTH. GL and have fun!!
