Indiana Babies

Kathy

Two things...

First, I just saw your post below about little A not eating well today and also saw that you are on.  Is he OK and eating better?  I hope so!

Second, I doubt that profs at PU get discounted tix, but if they do (and I get the job!), I'll buy some and pass the savings along to you!

Re: Kathy

  • Luckily he's eating just enough to stay hydrated, but he's really struggling.  We canNOT get him to stool.  Ugh.  We've tried everything.  I'm going to call the dr. in the AM. :(  I want to stop all his stupid meds that don't work and just make his poor tummy hurt, but I feel like I need to ask the doctor first.

Oh, I was just teasing!! I mean, you should get discounted tickets...but...you def don't have to go out of your way for me. (I would totally take you up on it though.)

One of my friend's Dad is a prof at PU (in ag & bio) and he has amazing seats for all of the basketball games.  I'm not sure if that's just because he donates a lot of money or because he's had season tickets every year for eleven billion years, or what ;)

Anyway, I hope you get the job!!!! I would love to work in West Lafayette.  Would you move there?  That's probably my favorite town ever.  I just love campus and football etc.

I read this thread quickly and though you had gotten the job! I was so excited! I'm still really hopeful for you, Chrislyn!!

  • Kathy, I'm so sorry. :(  I can't imagine what all you've been through.  We just had a week or two of struggling with Ben's eating, and it was nowhere as bad as what it's been for you.  ((hugs))

I'm sure it wouldn't be any extra effort to get tickets!  Mike and I would go to a few games at least, especially the MSU-PU game (and wear green, of course!).

I hope I get the job, too! If I get it, we're definitely moving.  I'd make a lot more than I do here, so even if Mike doesn't have a job lined up, we'd still take it.  With the difference in cost of living, we'd still be ahead.  Besides, universities often do spousal accomodations when they want someone and their spouse also "needs" a university job.  But with the ag industry in the area, Mike might find a job outside of the university, too. I didn't realize how much I'd miss academia and living in a college town when I took this industry job.  That, and wanting to be back closer to family, is why I've been applying.

Lauren, thanks for being excited for me, too!  I will find out sometime next week if I get an in-person interview.  It'll be a two-ish day ordeal where I meet with the faculty, deans, etc and give a seminar.  It's really hell doing an interview for a faculty position.  They told me that the interviews won't be scheduled until late Aug/early Sept, though, which sucks.  We had hoped that if we were going to move, we'd be there sometime in the fall.  With that schedule, we probably wouldn't move until December, since we need time to get our house here sold, line up housing there (we'd rent at first), and find daycare for Ben.

Oh, and I'm posting now b/c I forgot my camera (which I took work-related pix on yesterday and need today) at home.  I also worked 12 hours yesterday, so I'm taking a bit of a break!
