Trying to Get Pregnant

Who has a tilted uterus?

When did you find out it was tilted?

I know its absolutely nothing to worry about if I have one Im just curious if this is something you found out years ago at your first gyno appt or not until looking for it.

My doc seems to think I might have one, I asked him how he would know and he said "stick my fingers up your vagina" (he's a very blunt dr.) but then he didn't check. He just said it doesn't matter if I do, its nothing to worry about. I agree, Im just thinking with 15 years of gyno appointments wouldn't someone have noticed along the road?

Same here.  I've known since I was a teenager.

Your doc has an interesting bedside manner.

  • I swear my ob/gyn mentioned this to me in passing several years ago.  It was just an offhand comment and a "it's no big deal."  I never thought about it again until I started here.

  • My Dr. is one heck of a character, he's pretty hilarious actually and I kind of prefer the bluntness, no sugar coating for me!

Thanks for the input, Im guessing I don't have one or I would know by now. I think he just said that because he couldn't find the babies HB via doppler. I blame that fat layers in the way but he just kept throwing around titled uterus as a possible reason so I thought I'd ask!

    Thanks ladies!

  • I have one as well but didn't find out until this year when I switched doctors.
  • I was actually just told last week.

My dr DID say that when I get pregnant it might interfer with seeing/hearing the baby at first- that by 9-10 weeks we would be able to. He also said that its different for everyone- some women with tilited utes will see/hear earlier and some later.

  • Hmmm well then who knows, guess its a good thing to possibly have, something you don't have to worry about! Thanks again!

  • I didn't find out until my 12 week pregnancy appt.  He said it is VERY tilted.  But that it was no big deal.

  • Hey!  I have one and didn't find out until I was pregnant.  My doc said that it can make getting pregnant more difficult and the best position to use for a tilted uterus is doggy style (and honestly, I believe that is what finally did it for us on cycle 7!).  Other than that it doesn't mean much so doctors may not have told you you have one even if they had previously noticed.
  • Every single gyno I have ever gone to has said, "Hey, did you know you have a tipped uterus?"
  • It was mentioned to me by my dr once before TTC, but has come up since we were trying/preg a couple times.  I agree with doggy style helping out on the "lucky cycle".  She told me that once the uterus "fills up with baby" and has to tilt back forward you go from not showing to looking several weeks further along pretty quickly and that seems to be true for me now.  Maybe that was the ice cream too though.........

  • I was told at my first gyno appt with my mothers doctor, it was a horrible experience I was 16 and mortified by the whole experience, he scared me for life I will never have a male doctor again. My dentist is male and I get nervous everytime I have to go but its DH's dentist since his first tooth, I can't wait until he retires! Anyways sorry it runs in my family and I was at the doctors to find out why I didn't have my period though I had PMS (badly).
